dreamworld is home to australia's first and only flowrider

Born from the roots of surfing, skateboarding, snowboarding and bodyboarding, FlowRider pushes a thin sheet of rushing water over a stationary form so riders can drop in on their own unbroken wave, slide down, carve a turn, cut back and ride up the padded surface.

With more than 40 installations worldwide and a global visitor count of over fifteen million riders per year, FlowRider provides a controlled environment where the water is warm and the waves are year round.

FlowRider is a safe platform for novices and a challenging stage for competitive board riding enthusiasts. The flexible, trampoline-like base can handle any wipeout adding thrills and skills for the whole family. Try it standing up or lying down. Regardless of age and skill, everybody can now experience the rush of riding a wave.

Flowboarding is an established sport with a worldwide following, a progressive set of skills and a whole new language like ‘dropping a miller’, ‘carving the buzz’, and slipping a ‘stealie.’ The FlowRider operates in three modes:

• Bodyboarding sessions for beginners and intermediates
• Flowboarding demonstrations for spectators
• Stand-up boarding for advanced riders

Flowboarding by Day … A $5 Flow Pass gives guests a thirty minute shared session with up to 15 other people and is available only for bodyboarding.

Flowboarding by Night … Advanced riders can hone their skills in stand-up mode by pre booking NightRider each Friday and select Saturday nights. $20 will get you a one hour shared session with up to 12 other people. Meanwhile, $5 spectator passes are also be available for family and friends to watch their mates take to the stage.

HIT THE FLOW ZONE

Dreamworld’s CEO, Noel Dempsey, said FlowRider, complete with merchandise shop, food outlet and a chill-out bar, is part of a master plan to introduce a new breed of innovative rides and attractions at Dreamworld, that focus on adding skill to thrill.

“When it opened in 2007, Flowrider offered us a taste of things to come. Since then, we’ve added a new generation of experiences that add a touch of skill to the thrill and which are capturing the Aussie culture. These include Redline, Australia’s first V8 Supercars simulator ride and AVPX, one of the largest laser tag arenas in the country themed to reflect the cult hit movie, Alien Vs Predator Vs You.”

“With all these attractions, every time you ride, shoot, or drive, you improve your skills and perform for the crowd”.

The FlowRider is heated and open all year round. Change rooms are available.

FlowRider is not included in Dreamworld’s general admission price. For more information, check out www.flowrider.com.au
