Dreamworld's Tiger Island
A Grrreat way to reward staff

To most Australians, a tiger is something you see in a zoo 20 metres from a viewing platform and separated by a huge fence and a deep moat. The chance to get up close to this magnificent species is extremely rare.

But for corporate groups and incentive delegates on the Gold Coast, the opportunity to dine in front of a 1600 sqm tiger sanctuary framed by native trees and a cascading waterfall and then reach out and touch the tail of a tiger is now possible thanks to one of the wildest incentive events in Australia: Dreamworld’s Tiger Island breakfasts and dinners.

Guaranteed to give you a dinner conversation with a difference, the event is available for groups from 10 to 150. Delegates can be met at the Dreamworld gates by one of the theme park’s welcoming characters like Kenny Koala or Goldie the Clown and escorted to Tiger Island. Standing just eight metres from all the island action with a cocktail or a fresh orange juice in hand, guests enjoy an exclusive 20 minute Tiger Show that showcases the behaviours of the king of the jungle, from leaping across raised plinths, to climbing trees and gently slurping on their favourite treat; full cream milk.

Behind the viewing platform, themed tables complete with tiger print overlays, Australian floral centrepieces and plush tiger toys are laid out waiting for the fine dining to begin.

But first, delegates have a chance to get up close to a 180kg giant, as the king of the jungle walks by.

“It’s unforgettable to be within arms reach of a tiger,” said Dreamworld General Manager Sales, referring to the tiger march past. “Leash trained since they were small cubs, the walk through is undoubtedly the highlight and such an extraordinary experience that is unavailable anywhere else. Guests can actually pat the Bengal and take a photo of it within inches of where they are standing.”
"In terms of sheer numbers, almost 20 percent of all events held at the two theme parks are Tiger Island breakfasts or dinners. And the popularity is still high with a 27 percent increase in bookings this year.”

Tiger Island is primarily booked by corporates seeking a smaller, more intimate venue that has wow impact she explained.

“We’ve hosted a few wedding receptions on the island, but the majority of bookings are for businesses wanting to reward their teams for a great performance.”
Opened in 1995, Tiger Island is the largest interactive tiger facility outside the United States and is an educational conservation-based attraction that actively works to save tigers in the wild. In the specifically designed habitat of Tiger Island, the tigers and their handlers co-exist peacefully without the constraints of cages, creating an exciting and unique experience for guests.
