alien vs predator vs you
In the heart of Australia’s favourite themepark, two interstellar legends continue to wage an eternal battle for supremacy with a laser conflict unlike any other.
Themed to reflect the cult sci-fi movie, Alien Vs Predator, guests are dropped into the heat of the battle with one mission: to survive Australia’s most exciting five minute game play.
Taking place in a 650 sqm intelligent arena that fights back, combatants are hustled into the Weyland Industries Mission Armoury, suited up with defence gear and challenged to unearth the mystery that surrounds the Temple of Three Cultures.
Their objective is to get through the arena, complete with a Temple, the Sacrificial Chamber and the deadly Queen Alien Labyrinth without becoming a casualty of war, earning points by engaging multi-layered targets with a Delta Strike phaser that provides real-time game play information.
New York-based producer and director Lynton V Harris, the man behind attractions based on blockbuster movies, was tasked with pushing laser combat beyond the arcade.
“AVPX is the next generation of laser combat set in one of the biggest laser arenas in Australia. Dreamworld has evolved the concept from a ‘shoot and glow’ approach to a struggle against a fictitious threat to the human species.”
“Our objective is to bring drama and suspense to the battle. In addition to spectacular theming, the arena randomly changes so that every time a guest steps out of the Weyland Industries Mission Armoury, they are entering the great unknown.”
“It’s a do or die battle and mates are forced to turn on each other once infected with Alien space spawn.”
Participants are instructed to trust no one and shoot everything. The walls are alive, laser doors lock them into the action and alien impregnation turns team mates against team mates.
“No one has themed laser to this extent and it was important that we got it right, so we went straight to the source,” added Lynton.
“We flew to Los Angeles to meet with Amalgamated Dynamics Inc., headed by the Creature Effects Creators of Alien vs. Predator, Tom Woodruff Jnr and Alec Gillis, to keep the attraction as consistent to the movie as possible.”
AVPX is included in the Dreamworld entry price.
